On Saturday, traders organized a protest by obstructing the roadway in front of Yamuna Future Park in the capital, resulting in considerable traffic delays. The demonstration commenced around noon and continued for approximately 30 minutes, concluding around 1:20 p.m. This roadblock was instigated by dissatisfaction regarding the mall’s closure, which occurred without any action taken in response to a recent theft at a mobile showroom within the complex. The traders expressed their discontent over the market authorities’ inaction concerning the theft, leading to the mall’s shutdown. The protest caused significant traffic congestion on both sides of the road, impacting commuters. However, by 1:20 p.m., the protesters cleared the roadway, allowing traffic to resume its normal flow. Local law enforcement officials were present to oversee the situation. Deputy Inspector (SI) Kamruzzaman from the Bhatara police station confirmed that the obstruction was limited to the area in front of the mall and lasted less than an hour. SI Abdul Quader noted that the traders’ grievances were rooted in the inadequate response to the theft and the subsequent closure of the mall, but the matter was resolved without any further complications.
